Expedition Mission Changes

I am currently reworking the expedition mission and adding in the following. math will be posed once i have done some tests. The following are going to be called Artifacts which you can find while exploring distant galaxies and empty space.

ION Field Generator - Planetary Defense takes 20% less damage.
Jump Drive Relic - Jumpgate Recharge time reduced 50%
Relativistic Shipyard - Ship build rate increased 25%
Resilient Armor - Hull repair rate increase 15% "Ships only"
Data Archive - Research cost decreased 25%
Matter Compressor - Max storage for both warehouse and Safehouse increased 15%
Jump Field Generator - All ships with a Hyperspace Drive will travel 30% faster

there will most likely be more these are just what i have for now.

Good idea! I still suggest to bring search of credits in expedition.

That's a great idea. I love seeing expansion on the Expedition aspect of the game.

My only concern is that these Artifacts/Relics are all very powerful. Would it be possible to make different "sizes" of these items (like a small ION Field Generator that increases Planetary Defense by only 5%)? The higher your Expedition Skill (perhaps the more Expedition experience you have, if you're still planning on incorporating experience and missions into the game) the better your odds are at not only finding an Artifact, but a bigger/better artifact. You could even introduce new Researches into the game that allows people to gain more use out of Artifacts, maybe at first level you only get 1% bonus, but as you research the Tech it increases more and more until you reach the maximum with that Artifact. Were you planning on having the effects stackable (ie, I find two Data Archives so my research is 50% faster)?

The other thing I think would be interesting is if the Artifact only affected the planet that it's on. It's an object that's being used, not a new technology that was researched for everybody. It would make people think about where the Artifact would benefit them most, and then you'd have to fly the sucker around to where you wanted it.

There's quite a bit of expanding that can go into Expeditions and Artifacts, I think you're off to a great start.

artifacts are extremely rare meaning you could very well send out a million missions and get nothing or you may get lucky enough to get one on your first try however once you get one you cant get the same one again. And it is part of the plan for the artifacts to only work on the planet that the fleet that found it originated from.

Perfect.

So will you be able to get the same Artifact for each planet? Or one per player?

once you get it you cant get another and you cant move it to another planet so when and if you abandon your planet it goes too then you can get it again. some of them however will have affects on all your planets.
